    Honda Prelude is not an ordinary car. It is an incredibly speedy coupe making 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and having maximum speed over 200 km/h and in the same time can't be named the sport car in the full meaning of this word. Honda is the driver's car a priori. And when words "Honda" and "sport coupe" meet together it's a hot combination.


    The fourth generation of Honda Prelude released at late 1991 has a rich legacy. Actually this car has a very little similar to it's forerunner. It was created from the scratch. More elegant, larger ... completely different. On the one hand it become hewier, on the other it has more powerful engine. For the first time in the history this model got the VTEC engine. As the result the power increased from 150 to 185 horsepower at the top 2.2 VTEC model. The dynamic characteristics also increased. All models overcome 200 km/h barrier. The weakest model (2.0 liter / 133 hp engine) reaches 100 km/h mark in 9.2 seconds what is not bad at all.


    The Prelude boasts one of the most advanced suspension system available on the any automobile in its class: 4-wheel double wishbone. Unlike the strut system on the other cars, double wishbone suspension uses independent upper and lower (wishbone) links to connect each wheel to the chassis. When cornering, these links effectively control wheel camber so that wheels remain virtually perpendicular to the road surface - the ideal relationship for maximum adhesion. Roll center height, track width, center offset, steering caster and trial have also been optimized. As a result Prelude has linear, predictable steering response when cornering, and in less affected by crosswind or cambered road surface.

    In addition to powerful roadholding capabilities and precise handling, 4-wheel double wishbone suspension gives the Prelude something usually not found in this class of automobile - an exceptionally compliant ride. This system's long travel, combined with special gas pressurized Honda Progressive Valve (HPV) shock absorbers, effectively absorbs the energy from bumps and rough pavement before it can upset the chassis.
