Hi,

volvo s60 2002 2.4 170 HP. got its besiktning fail due to this reason. strålkastare halvljus 4.1 höger, ljusbild felaktig (DIffus). how can i troubleshoot what is the problem. i installed new bulbs one day ago for besiktning from biltema premium series. this is first car of my friend and i have no idea of this model S60. any help is much appreciated. How to troubleshoot this. i checked the beam pattern dont know if there is any problem with that. please have a look at the attached pics.

Could be due to hazy headlights lenses or bad headlight reflectors. Run your fingers along the headlight and inspect it, it should be smooth and clear.

It is also aimed too low compared to the left headlight.

Is the bulb installed correctly?

Could also be some level adjusting screw that is broken, or the leveling motor that is the problem. That could make the reflector tilt forward.
You could try to take off the back bulb cover and pull the reflector or bulb to make sure the reflector isn't moving.

In my opinion the beam pattern looks good, but hard to say when the left beam pattern extends over the right beam pattern.

thanks for the help, yes you are right within europeon specs it should be higher than the left one or spread wider on the right. which is totally not the case here. so i will adjust the headlight and then i will see how it looks like. i checked one of my friends having non project halogen lights (reflector system but different car). his beams are horizontally aligned but right one extends a little further which exactlly is similar to what you pointed at.

When I had a Honda CRX, I got a notice about both my headlights gave bad lighting (diffus ljusbild), I had cheap white lightbulbs from Rusta in them, so I simply bought normal lightbulbs from a gasstation and my headlights were then approved, so maybe its your lightbulb(s) from Biltema causing the issue.
It might even/also be the lightbulb isnt installed correctly, on H1-bulbs for example, they can be tricky to notice if they are a bit on the side in the headlight.

i bought Premium series bulb from biltema the most expensive one that they sell. however they were not like osram or philips or som biger brand but i hardly think that shall make difference or could be. but they only said the right side headlight has this diffus fault but both sides had same bulbs installed and in such case both should fail.
