Hej,

volvo s60 2002 failed besiktning due to färdbroms bromskraftfördelning 1.2.1 FRAM Bromsverkan ojämn.
when i drive the car it pulls to right and then straightens up on the hard braking. i have small wheel alignment issue car pulls to the right but its very slight so i dont think it is due to that.

Besiktning protocoll also says
Bromsvärden vänster FRAM 1.8kN and höger Fram 3.1Kn so it clearly looks like something wrong with the left brakes to me. I lifted the car and checked the left hand side brakes the brak pads are wearing evenly and look nice and alot of metal on them. sliding pins were little bit corroded took them out cleaned them and installed them back. i tried to push back the piston with plumbers plier just to see how easy was to move it back it was very hard though and there was a lot of rust inside the piston and allover the calliper. but ingeneral things seemed fine.

inspected brakehose physically the hose seems normal no wear and tear and so on. Please suggest what could i look at further everything seems normal, however after the service brakes are doing better but stil l the initiall pull is there and then car gets straighten up. Any help is much appreciated.

/Regards,
zia

Tear the faulty caliper apart and lube it up.
Preferably you should remove the caliper from the disc, let it hang in the air and then pump the brake pedal until the piston is loose enough to remove by hand.

Then you just remove the piston seal and dust boot before degreasing the caliper.
Clean it off in hot water and use sand paper on the piston to clean the corrosion off if necessary.
Use this grease to lube up the piston seal and piston before assembly. : http://www.biltema.se/sv/Bilvard/Fetter … 000034132/

Hi Jesper,

much appreciated thanks for the answer. one question though is it easy to disconnect the piston seal and dust boot? number two would not there be any brakeoil leak due to this could i stop brake oil by switching some nut bolt off in the line, if not then it should be followed by a brake oil topup and the bleeding process right????

Hello!

The piston seal and dust boot are not particularly difficult to remove, you just need to be gentle and try not to damage them.
The dust boot comes off the piston quite easily while the piston seal needs to be pried off with a small screwdriver or something similar.

And yes, there will be some leakage.
Probably around 10-20ml of brake fluid.
Just make sure to clamp the brake line hose close to the caliper before removing the hose from the caliper.
After you've re-assembled everything you'll just need to bleed that one caliper and top off the fluid! smile

Edit : Try searching "Brake caliper repair" or something like that on Youtube.
