Thunderbird88, the guy who drag races Thunderbirds with his dad, brought me here, and promised that my writing in English would not offend. My apologies if it does. Nice site.
Me? I live in the US, in Davis, CA, which is between Sacramento and San Francisco. I used to teach and manage a microscopy/x-ray facility in Engineering at U.C. Davis, but burned out. Now I work at home writing books, software, and making videos. When I can, I get to the track to drive, where I also instruct new drivers. I've driven at nearly 50 events, and I have been racing in the 24 Hours of LeMons series for about a year and a half.
My ride? I drive a black 1998 Honda Prelude, mod'ed step-by-step as I learned to drive better and learned what the car needed. I started with seats and wheel and harness, because cornering G's were pinning me to the door and bruising my leg. Next, brakes and tires, which was a big improvement. After that, suspension - coil-overs and sway bars, which gave the car a much crisper response. Also, a Quaife LSD. These last two mods alone cut my lap times at Thunderhill (3 mile course) by 10 seconds.
I also do a lot of track video and my car is pre-wired for cameras and sound. I used to have about 100 videos on Streetfire but pulled them due to their advertising methods. Check out my channel on Vimeo/KStreetStudio for recent videos and coming uploads of my older videos. I'll try to upload one or two here.
My race car? A 1969 Opel GT that we found in an orchard, bought for $200, and transformed into a viable race car in 9 weeks. We've been racing it for over and year and doing well and having a ton of fun. Sweden, you must do a LeMons race!
